Robert shot in 4K RAW with the Odyssey 7Q and Sony AXS-R5 external recorders and found them very user-friendly. The FS7 is a great camera for ENGs and documentaries, but it still holds its own cinematically. The lightweight magnesium body makes it a breeze to operate all day. It is versatile in its movements. Pick the FS7 if you prioritize efficiency: get in, get the shots you need, and get out. In Robert\u2019s words, \u201cIt\u2019s a beast!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">Some details about the FS7:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0It has a super-35 mm single-chip Exmore CMOS sensor.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0It can internally record UltraHD at up to 60 FPS.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0It can internally record HD at up to 180 FPS.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0When shooting to an external recorder, the FS7 can shoot 4RAW 12-bit cinema at up to 60 FPS and 2K RAW 12-bit cinema at up to 240 FPS.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0It has three internal recording options: the XAVC-I, XAVC-L, MPEG-2.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0The XAVC-I records 10-bit 422 images in UltraHD and HD.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0The XAVC-L records 8-bit 420 images in UltraHD and 10-bit 422 images in HD.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0The MPEG-2 shoots 422 images in 1080 p and 720 p.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0With the Firmware update, the FS7 can record cinema 4K XAVC-I up to 60 FPS internally.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\">\u2022\u00a0It also records ProRes HQ and ProRes 422 in HD at up to 29.97 frames progressively and 59.94 frames interlaced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/customer.magnanimousmedia.net\/product\/sony-pxwfs7-body-kit\/322\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Interested in the Sony FS7? Today, we\u2019re here at the Lacuna Artist Lofts, filming my friend Mauricio Ramirez.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\"><em>The FS7 has a Super 35 single chip Exmore CMOS sensor that is able to internally record UltraHD at up to 60 frames per second and HD at up to 180 frames per second.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\"><em>I had a great time with this camera. We shot 4K RAW to the Odyssey 7. Real easy to use\u2014I\u2019ve never used the Odyssey before, and I was able to plug in. We have this external adaptor to shoot RAW.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\"><em>When shooting to an external recorder such as the Odyssey 7Q or the Sony AXS-R5, it can shoot 12-bit cinema 4K RAW up to 60 frames per second and 2K RAW up to 240 frames per second.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\"><em>The FS7 records internally to XAVC-I, XAVC-L, and MPEG-2. While in UltraHD, XAVC-I will record 10-bit 422 images, while the XAVC-L will be 8-bit, 420. When shooting in HD, XAVC-I and L will both be 10-bit 422. MPEG-2 shoots a 422 color space, but it is only available when shooting in 1080p and 720 p.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\"><em>We had the FS7 on the jib today. It really made shooting easy. It allows the camera to be so versatile by getting all these different movements so you can get in, get the shots you need, and get out.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\"><em>We shot in 24 frames per second. Didn\u2019t do any slow motion today, although the camera is capable of doing 1080p up to 180 frames per second internally.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\"><em>Sony has recently released a Firmware update for the FS7 that allows it to record Cinema 4K XAVC-I up to 60 frames per second internally, as well as ProRes HQ and 422 in HD at up to 29.97 progressively and 59.94 frames interlaced.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; color: #000000;\"><em>I can\u2019t say enough good things about this camera.
