Top Down Shooting, what is it?<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n

Top Down shooting is an overhead shooting method<\/a> that lowers toward the subject. It is a complex shot that positions the front of the camera parallel to the ground, and then \u201cpushes in\u201d toward the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Equipment is Used in the Setup and Why?<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

We are using a Panasonic EVA1 5.7K S35 Cinema Camera<\/a> with a Zeiss CP2 50mm Makro T2.1 Prime Lens<\/a> mounted to a Kessler Pocket Jib<\/a> to achieve a top down shooting style in this video.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Panasonic EVA1 has an EF Mount, so it can be paired with Canon auto-focus lenses<\/a>. Instead of using the EVA1\u2019s auto focus function, we will control focus by using the ARRI SXU-1 Single Axis Lens Control Kit<\/a>. We could choose to use a camera, like the Canon C200<\/a>, which has better auto-focus, but the reason we are using the Panasonic EVA1 is because of its ability to record very sharp detail with its 5.7K sensor<\/a>. Capturing sharp detail is important for the purpose of this top down shooting setup. This top down shooting setup applies very well to product shots, or food shots that require emphasis, or simply more detail. Also, the reason we are using the Zeiss 50mm Makro lens is because we are able to get very close to the product in the shot which increases are in-focus tilt range.<\/span><\/p>\n
